Every year, Academy of Art University in San Francisco presents their Spring Show, a showcase of the student's work from a variety of departments and focuses that the school offers. On May 18th, the 2023 Spring Show will kick off. For Juxtapoz, its not only a chance to see what students are creating in their fields, but the broad creative fields that the art university is providing. From Landscape Design to Fashion, Animation and Music Production, the Spring Show encapsulates a lot. Today, we asked the Academy of Art to give us a rundown of a few departments we like to follow, and what each program offers students. School of Fashion
The School of Fashion offers degree programs that span the fashion career spectrum. Our school of fashion reflects how industry is organized, with programs and curriculum mirroring different roles and functions within a company. Students in various fashion degree programs within the School of Fashion, like any fashion company, collaborate with one another, and often times with students working on other industry collaborations. When the School of Industrial design collaborates with major automotive brands, they will bring in fashion students to discuss interiors for example. Our students are taught by industry professionals that bring real world experience. Our students are ready for the workplace upon graduation.
School of Music Production
We teach students music production, composition, scoring, MIDI, recording, editing and mixing, as well as sound design, dialog, sound effects and final mix from industry professionals teaching at the School of Music Production & Sound Design for Visual Media, and apply these skills in media production. We are not instrumental performance or a performance program. We do more than “just make beats”.
School of Landscape Architecture
Only institution in the nation that offers an online LAN program. We teach the design and technical content and skills to enter the profession of landscape architecture and to create beautiful, viable, and innovative outdoor places both here at home and around the globe. Students will learn the multiplicity of opportunities available in the profession and gain the skills and tools to help you succeed.
School of Interaction UX/UI
We’re equipping students with a comprehensive skillset in contemporary interaction, user experience, and user interface design that will prepare you for careers in many industries including the tech industry—one of the most vibrant, multifaceted, and expansive industries in the world. We teach an integrated approach based on four fundamentals: design thinking, user experience, visual communication, and technology.
