El sábado 3 de noviembre, 2012, CHG Circa presentara “La Catrina,” nuevas pinturas de la sublime belleza de la Catrina y el quinto solo show de Sylvia Ji en la galería. Central a las pinturas de “La Catrina” esta el espectro de la Calavera o Catrina una icónica deidad de México y de las celebraciones del “Día de Muertos,” invocada por Sylvia Ji como una presencia cromática codificada alegóricamente. “Quería retomar esta figura femenina que me persigue, la Catrina, ponerla en una forma menos provocativa y más preocupada, casi triste, llena de tranquilidad y reflexión” comenta Ji.

On December 17, Los Angeles-based Sylvia Ji will open a new solo exhibition, Gilded Roses, at Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City. After seeing Helford Gallery at Scope with a wide-variety of works from their newest exhibiting artists, we are excited to see a new body of work from former Jux-feature, Ji.

This is the last week to catch COOP's newest solo show, Idle Hands, that has been up at Corey Helford Gallery for the past month. The show comes down on August 3, and we have a few shots from the opening this past July. Our founder, Robert Williams, made it out to show some support...
