For the past week, Juxtapoz has been on the ground in Aberdeen, Scotland, as Nuart returned for its first full form festival since 2019 and the following global lockdowns. It was, in short, worth the wait. Nuart's Martyn Reed and team curated one of their strongest and most cohesive showings, built around the theme of "Reconnect" but giving the artist's the room to interpret and reimagine just what the last few years has meant to what has always been a public practice. Gone was the spraypaint and here was the paintbrush, as nearly every mural (although a few stencils and collage works made their way into the festival) was painted with mastery in the form of massive murals around the city of Aberdeen. We are reconnecting, and in a big, pronounced way, it seems.

Later this week, we will publish our full review of the Nuart Aberdeen 2022 festival, along with episodes from the Radio Juxtapoz podcast, recorded live in Aberdeen.
