If you happen to be in San Francisco through March 24, go and check out new paintings by former Juxtapoz cover artist, Miss Van. Her new series is paired with the works of Leonor Fini in a show titled, Convulsive Beauty, on view at Weinstein Gallery in SF. As you may know, Fini passed away in 1996, and the Argentinian surrealist painter has long been one of the most influential painters to a generation of pop-surreal and lowbrow painters. Miss Van's works paired with Fini is a smart curatorial choice, and brings a new audience to both contemporary artist's lush paintings and the legacy of the surrealist.
