As we continue to catch up on the flurry of art shows that have opened around the world over the past weeks, we wanted to showcase the new bodies of work of two Juxtapoz past featured artists (and in Kristen's case, cover artist), Jillian Evelyn and Kristen Liu Wong. Not A Flower Alone, on view now at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles through October 26, is not a group show per se, but sees both artists bounce ideas and concepts off each other and execute works in completely different ways.

Each artist, even in collaboration, for which this show has two collaborative pieces, brings their own distinct language to the show. Evelyn strikes a balance of space and almost minimal work, with a color palette that seems more reserved than past work and yet is her most effective work to date. Liu Wong channels an almost urgent comic-book energy, with dense paintings that are both salacious and punk rock regal.

Not a Flower Alone is on view through October 26, 2019.
