Jenna Gribbon has brought us all into her life. For over two decades now, and now in the new solo show Like Looking In a Mirror at David Kordansky Gallery in Los Angeles, there is a sense of intimacy, a drawing back of the curtain of one's most personal life that has evolved and given the audience an emotional connection. This show goes even deepper, with tighter crops, less body and more faces and reflections, where she explores her relationship to her son and perhaps, even exploring what it is to paint such scenes for such a global audience. Gribbon herself shows up more in this show, a meditative and quiet understanding that she is in control of this world but also the mercy of how it unfolds. —Evan Pricco
