As we reported last month, Summer 2021 cover artist Danielle Mckinney was going to have a busy and prominent moment in Northern Europe. First with the opening of about a moment—in a moment at Kunsthal n in Copenhgan, and now, Galerie Max Hetzler presents Mckinney’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, at Bleibtreustraße 45 and 15/16 in Berlin entitled Haven. Across the two gallery spaces are 15 new works, a mixture of Mckinney's hazy nostalgia and personal exploration of self, memory and sensory elements with a new series of watercolor on paper works that expand what we have seen from the artist in the past. What Mckinney does is create a sound with her work, a mood that is evocative of smoke filled rooms and quietly rumbling double bass notes. Places we all want to be in.—Evan Pricco
